Wayfaring Beyond is an original work that reimagines the possibilities of human gesture and spirit through a new form of dance. Taking inspiration from the work of Zhuangzi – the ancient Chinese philosopher who questioned the value of evaluating life through the binary perspective of “perfection” and “imperfection” – the performance guides the audience from “seeing each other” to “seeing themselves”. Through the introspective and body-focused practices of dance, para dance sport and martial arts, the piece showcases an innate state of spiritual and physical freedom.
Co-produced by No Limits and Hong Kong Dance Company (HKDance), Wayfaring Beyond is an inclusive dance work co-choreographed and performed by two of Hong Kong’s leading professional dance troupes: HKDance and the China Hong Kong Para Dance Sport Association. On stage together, dancers from the two troupes – some performing in wheelchairs – explore the liberating possibilities of transcending the limitations of the body.
